Professional Domestic Worker Training: Professional Care, Peaceful Homes
In Rwanda, many families face a growing challenge – the shortage of well-trained, professional domestic workers. This gap not only affects the quality of childcare and home life but also impacts parents’ peace of mind and productivity at work.
At Y4Y – Rwanda, we see domestic work as essential work — worthy of dignity, respect, and investment.
Through our Professional Domestic Worker Training Program, we equip household helpers with the knowledge and skills they need to become trusted partners in home care. Our training includes:
- Home management & domestic skills: Cooking, cleaning, hygiene, and time management to ensure a smooth and healthy household routine.
- Basic child psychology & parenting support: Understanding children’s emotional, social, and developmental needs — enabling better support to both kids and parents.
- Counseling and emotional wellbeing: We provide mental health support and empowerment to domestic workers themselves, recognizing the emotional demands of their role.
- Professional ethics and communication: Building respectful relationships between domestic workers and the families they serve, with clarity, boundaries, and trust.
This project creates a win-win solution:

Youth for Youth (Y4Y) Rwanda is a youth-led movement dedicated to empowering young people to lead purposeful lives and become agents of change in their communities.
